Full Course Description

Module 1: Neurodynamic Mobilization Upper Body

Most rehab professionals believe treating Neuropathy is a lost cause. Conventional wisdom says that once the damage is done, your patients’ only option is medication and learning to live with it.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. Complete symptom resolution is often unrealistic, however even small changes can move your patients from despair and resignation to hope and independence.

Watch us in this advanced training offering solutions to a difficult diagnosis and discover the latest and most impactful evidence-based interventions including:

  • Pain management: manual therapy techniques, modalities that are supported by evidence (TENs, lasers, diathermy, etc.), dietary changes and coverage of medication and treatment options outside of rehab.
  • How to intervene directly at the central nervous system to facilitate neuroplasticity in motor control and sensory organization.
  • Restore peripheral nerve mobility with neuro-fascial release, IASTM, cupping, and soft tissue techniques
  • Maximize function when deficits persist – fall risk reduction, home modifications, compensation strategies, home programs and more!

You will walk away with the knowledge and skills to confidently apply functional screening techniques, identify deficits, and design a personalized plan of care.

As a clinician who truly understands neuropathy’s causes, subtypes, and prognosis, you’ll stand out as an expert who can help some of the most challenging and complex patients regain the quality of life they dream of.

  5. Develop an evidence-based treatment program managing the controllable variables influencing neuropathic pain.
  6. Investigate the impact of neuropathy in balance and the relationship to performance of occupational tasks.
  7. Distinguish fact from fiction regarding prognosis of intervention for neuropathy in relation to impact on ADLs.
  8. Investigate adverse peripheral neural tension impairments of the lower extremity UE/LE.
  9. Appraise provocative tests to identify mobility impairments related to adverse neural tension in the UE/LE.
  10. Apply neurodynamic mobilization techniques to manage mobility impairments for ilioinguinal, sciatic, femoral and saphenous nerves using manual or instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization and neural stretch techniques.
  11. Apply neurodynamic mobilization techniques to manage mobility impairments for median, musculocutaneous, ulnar and radial nerves using manual or instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization
  12. Develop a home exercise program to manage adverse neural tension.
  13. Assess and document effectiveness of the neurodynamic approach to adverse neural tension disorders.
  14. Investigate current literature related to the effectiveness of neurodynamic therapy for mobility impairments of the UE/LE.

Home Modifications for Rehab Clinicians: Solutions for geriatric adults with chronic conditions, disabilities, and age-related functional decline

Aging in place is here to stay. Healthcare is rapidly shifting to a home & value-based model, so patients are being sent home with significantly higher levels of impairment and illness than ever before.

Therapists must be prepared to make home modification recommendations to prevent rehospitalizations and adverse events—beyond just the “bandaid” of a grab bar. But large-scale renovations can seem daunting and intimidating…

That’s why I put together this course—to be your GO-TO guide for understanding your role as a rehab clinician in home safety assessments and modifications. Learn how you can:

  • Integrate a comprehensive home safety assessment in a timely manner
  • Implement a simple step-by-step framework to oversee home modification projects from start to finish!
  • Fall proof a home in 4 easy steps
  • Specialized recommendations for TBI, SCI, peripheral neuropathy and more!
  • Get paid! Understand implications for Medicare, waiver programs and cash-based pay!

This is your opportunity to get ahead of the curve! This rapidly growing market desperately needs more trained clinicians. You have a unique skill set that allows you to anticipate future needs and finally make long lasting independence a possibility! Expand your opportunities to work outside the traditional medical model with this sought-after skill set that will boost your referrals and add a cash-based revenue stream to your practice.

Program Information

Objectives

  1. Determine the role of the clinician within a multidisciplinary team working on environmental modifications.
  2. Evaluate different assessments/protocols on the market and their reliability/validity.
  3. Employ a five step process to a beginning home safety evaluation.
  4. Determine 3 or more risks associated with increased falls that may impact the home modification process.
  5. Inspect ADA and its roles/considerations in regards to home/ environmental modifications.
  6. Propose 3 or more interventions that accommodate various budgets.
