DESCRIPTION:
Module 4 will address a wide range of factors that contribute to how children and adolescents experience and internalize traumatic events. The roles of both healthy and maladaptive coping strategies employed by traumatized children and adolescents will be examined. The concepts of counterfactual thinking, self-blame, and meaning-making will be explored as methods of developing stabilization and adopting healthier coping tactics. Theories of cognitive restructuring and reframing will be considered for their effectiveness and facilitation of posttraumatic growth.
