This training will provide a theoretical foundation for understanding core concepts in nonverbal and expressive strategies for trauma processing. These concepts will be applied to clinical practice through a discussion of clinical case material. Taught by expert Erika Lally, LMHC, ATR-BC,  this content is based on a significant array of empirical, theoretical, and expert consensus literature.

  1. Overview of art therapy in trauma treatment
  2. Discuss the potential types of trauma processing in art therapy

Objectives:

  1. Specify the therapist’s role in art therapy and how to properly prepare for an art media assessment.
  2. Analyze when it is appropriate to use non-verbal and expressive strategies in intervention with trauma survivors.

Erika Lally, LMHC, ATR-BC

Erika Lally, LMHC, ATR-BC is a trauma clinician with over 20 years clinical experience.  She has worked with multiple populations across multiple settings and has taught at Lesley University and through the Trauma Center Certificate Program.  She offers treatment, training and consultation through her two business- Center Psychotherapy and Center Wellness.  www.erikalally.com & www.centerwellness.org.  She specializes in using art therapy and EMDR in the treatment of developmental trauma, particularly with internationally adopted children.  At Center Wellness Erika is developing programming aimed at helping trauma survivors experience a positive relationship with both their bodies and internal energy.  She is combining her clinical experience with her decades old yoga and martial arts practices.
