Pediatric Malnutrition and Nutrition-Focused Physical Exam

Have you ever wondered how to accurately define and diagnose pediatric malnutrition?  Are you still using the terminology “failure to thrive”?  This seminar will give you the tools you need to accurately diagnose pediatric malnutrition as well as how to perform a nutrition-focused physical exam.  Accurate malnutrition identification and diagnosis allows for earlier nutrition intervention to best improve patient outcomes.

Kristy Paley, MS, RD, LDN

Kristy Paley, MS, RD, LDN, is a Registered Dietitian with over 20 years’ experience, with much of her career focused in pediatrics. She currently works at Duke Children’s Hospital where she serves as the dietitian for the pediatric intensive care and pediatric complex care teams. She holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Nutrition and was a Board Certified Nutrition Support Clinician for 15 years.  Kristy contributed to several publications, posters, and presentations.  Most recently, she presented on pediatric malnutrition at the national food and nutrition conference for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  Kristy also authored the chapter on Parenteral Nutrition in the most recent edition of Samour and King’s Pediatric Nutrition in Clinical Care textbook.  Her areas of expertise include nutrition for pediatric critical care and for children with medical complexity.
