Description

  • Timing and sequencing for motor development
  • Multi-sensory activities for sensory modulation
  • Self-regulation techniques to avoid meltdowns
  • Personal stories for behavioral control
  • Video-modeling for social communication

Do you work with young children (birth-5 years) who have social-emotional deficits?

These children tend to become upset for no reason and have trouble self-calming. They have difficulty transitioning and have poor sleeping and eating habits. Developing bonds with family and forming friendships are often challenging for them, and they prefer to play alone. Perhaps they have been diagnosed with sensory processing disorders, autism spectrum disorder, development delays, behavior issues or speech and language delays.

This seminar will identify the often unnoticed and untreated skills that directly impact social-emotional development in children and will give you strategies that work, such as:

  • Timing and sequencing for motor development
  • Multi-sensory activities for sensory modulation
  • Self-regulation techniques to avoid meltdowns
  • Personal stories for behavioral control
  • Video-modeling for social communication
  • Environmental interventions for smooth transitions
  • And more!

Join national speaker and author, Karen Hyche OTD, OTR/L, as she teaches you how our sensory and motor systems and the environment influence our social-emotional well-being. Using the latest research, Karen will teach you the hierarchy of social-emotional development and not just aspects of social-emotional skills. You will walk away with effective, evidence-based sensory and motor strategies to improve social-emotional deficits so each child can reach full potential.
