Description

As parents of school-aged kids, we have in the last two weeks been thrown into chaos.

Households like mine are suddenly coping with making make-shift desks, setting up technology, and helping our kids adapt to an online learning and instantly becoming homeschool teachers.

And if that isn’t enough, they’re scared. We’re scared. Parents are expected to provide safety and stability while helping their children manage fear and uncertainty.

  • How do we talk to our kids about this?
  • How do we keep our anxiety in check?
  • What language and approach can help relieve the stress?

As a parent, a clinician, and an expert in Internal Family Systems Therapy, I’m applying the Parts language of IFS with myself as well as with my kids – and it seems to be working!

Let me share with you the best approach to parent wisely and effectively in the face of this public health crisis so our kids can emerge and healthy and resilient when stability returns.
