Description

In this session, you will learn common barriers to mobilization, and strategies to overcome them, to help improve functional outcomes and prevent physical and financial complications. Learn how neuroplasticity principles can support motor (re)learning and control and shape treatment protocols that can help improve patient functional performance in rehabilitation. Work through the application and treatment techniques for progressing balance, gait, control, coordination, postural stability and functional independence- with a particular focus on neurologic and geriatric patients, including medically complex and obese. Take away strategies to avoid training plateau and intensify treatment protocols to help achieve faster outcomes.

Jessica Belanger, OT, works for Medline Industries, Inc. as a Clinical Specialist. She received her master’s degree from the University of Ottawa, Canada in 2013. Jessica worked in a neuro outpatient center for over 4 years, in which the owner invented a line of innovative and advanced therapeutic equipment, helping change the lives of many patients. She then worked independently in New Zealand for 1 year until she moved back to Canada to work for Medline Industries. For the last 2 years, she's been creating education programs, demonstrating and teaching across the US. Jessica's clinical focus has been the areas of neuroplasticity and advancing the translation of neuroplasticity and motor learning principles toward clinical applications.
