Program Description:

Postpartum hemorrhage can be life threatening, and most incidents happen in the first few hours following a delivery. This seminar will discuss the pathophysiology of a pregnant woman that accommodates for blood loss in pregnancy and the breakdown of that process as it goes further into hemorrhage. The incidence and risk factors will be reviewed for hemorrhage. Finally, we will proceed to the signs and symptoms of increased blood loss and the management strategies to minimize its effects.
