Module 2 will address indicators of normal child development (i.e. physical, cognitive, behavioral, and self and others) as well as the effects of trauma on the normal development in children and adolescents. Normal brain development and how the effects of acute and complex trauma can compromise the developing brains of children and adolescents will be examined. The roles of implicit and explicit memory will be studied to understand the function each play in the encoding process of traumatic experiences.
