Description

The natural process of aging can have a significant impact on gait quality. Changes in strength, range of motion, cognition and sensory systems such as proprioception and vision can reduce movement quality associated with navigating environments and may lead to falls. Delve into the changes in gait that occur with aging, compared to normal (typical) gait. Link those age changes to impairments at the body structure function level. Jennifaye Brown, PT, MSPT, PhD, NCS, CAPS will discuss fall prevention strategies to allow persons to safely age in place, regardless of their current living environment. Take away actionable items to implement in practice!
