Course Description:

In this hands-on, experiential seminar, you will learn a variety of expressive therapy interventions through play, art & clay therapy, movement/dance/music, storytelling and nature. You will be able to immediately incorporate these methods into practice with the clients you work with, to transform attachment related trauma, trauma associated with physical and emotional crisis (abuse, neglect, domestic violence, natural disasters, among others), as well as learning self-regulation skills to calm anxiety, focus attention, and overcome depressive states.

Join Janet Courtney, Ph.D., RPT-S, author and internationally recognized storyteller, as she shares with you a variety of expressive therapy interventions and supportive case examples and over 30 years of experience working with clients through expressive therapies.

For the in-person event, after attendance has been verified, pre-registered attendees will need to log into their online account to complete the online evaluation (and, if applicable for your profession, the online post-test with 80% passing score). Instructional methods will include PowerPoint, didactic lecture, Q&A, and others. After completion of the evaluation (and post-test, if applicable), participants can download/print their certificate of completion. For those in partial attendance (arrived late or left early), a letter of attendance will be available in the attendee online account after completion of the evaluation and online post-test (if the test is required for your profession). An adjusted certificate of completion reflecting partial credit will be sent within 30 days (if your board allows).

Janet A Courtney, PhD, LCSW, RPT-S™, is founder of FirstPlay Therapy®. She is a Registered Play Therapy-Supervisor, TEDx Speaker and past Chair of the Association for Play Therapy Ethics and Practice Committee and past President of the Florida Association for Play Therapy, FirstPlay Therapy was awarded third place overall in the Best Practices Showcase for FirstPlay Therapy at the First 1000 Days Infant Mental Health Summit (2018) along with the Children’s Healing Institute.
