Erickson, M.D. from 1975 to 1979, and his efforts at promoting and interpreting Erickson’s approach to hypnosis and therapy at the highest academic levels resulted in the inclusion of chapters in several scholarly publications edited by other luminaries in the field. Stephen is a LCSW psychotherapist in a private practice in Phoenix, Arizona, the author of 18 books and he conducts workshops internationally in over 24 countries.

  1. Analyze concepts of perceptiveness and acuity as they relate to hypnotic psychotherapy
  2. Analyze multiple forms of acuity in hypnotherapy that can be used in the clinical setting
Week 6: Hypnotic Language
  1. Appraise interpersonal components that elicit response from clients during hypnotic psychotherapy sessions
  2. Consider the rationale for using indirect suggestions and binds during hypnotic psychotherapy
  3. Simulate indirect suggestion and binds with a client to be used in a clinical setting
Week 7: The Art and Science of Impact
  1. Articulate three methods of impact from the arts that can be applied in hypnotic psychotherapy
  2. Explore methods from the arts that can affect treatment, for a given patient’s problem or solution
Week 8: Advanced Techniques of Psychotherapy IV: Resilience, An Experimental Approach
  1. Explore resilience and the components of the resilient state as they apply to hypnotic psychotherapy
  2. Articulate the concept of attunement and its place in clinical hypnosis
Week 9: Making Therapy Visually Alive
  1. Apply hypnotic techniques to client treatment
  2. Communicate the concepts of knowing and responsibility within hypnotherapy
  3. Apply concept of responsibility to creating a hypnotic trance during a client session
