If you work with COUPLES, FAMILIES, in RELATIONAL psychodynamic work or ATTACHMENT oriented bodywork this somatic workshop is designed especially for YOU. The session will have a brief introduction of the core concepts of Relational Rupture and Repair Work, developed by SE faculty Dave Berger and Abi Blakeslee. The next part of the session will be an interactive demonstration where a conference participant will present a couple or dyad they are working with. They will role play one of the dyad and choose another person from the audience to role play the other. Abi and Dave will demonstrate the work and deconstruct interventions based on the model.

I am a SE faculty and a marriage and family therapist. I have a master’s in counseling and Depth Psychology and a Ph.D. in Clinical and Somatic Psychology. My dissertation, with a committee that included Dr. Daniel Siegel, generated original research on the role of implicit memory in Somatic Experiencing. My clinical experience is with individuals, couples, children, and families treating a broad base of issues. I draw from over a decade and a half of experience with SEI, teach throughout the country and internationally, and consult worldwide. I am currently conducting evidence-based research on SE to promote its use in trauma-informed statewide care initiatives. you can access several SE research publications I have written on my website. His clinical work spans work with PTSD, couples, individuals, anxiety, chronic pain, medical syndromes/chronic distress, and acute musculoskeletal problems.
