This session explores the pathophysiology and epidemiology of hypertensive crisis, including presentation, assessment, and diagnostic testing. Risk factors and complications associated with hypertensive crisis are described. Relevant research based on current treatment guidelines is discussed.

Terri Townsend, MA, RN, CCRN-CMC, has over 45 years of critical care nursing experience, with specialty certifications in critical care and cardiovascular nursing. She also has over 20 years teaching experience, both in the academic and clinical settings.
