However, completing the exam will count towards your 80% completion at the end of the course for your certificate of completion from The Trauma Center at JRI. 

 

This training will provide a theoretical foundation for understanding core concepts in trauma-sensitive yoga. These concepts will be applied to clinical practice through a discussion of clinical case material. Taught by David Schouela, TCTFY-F, RYT, this content is based on a significant array of empirical, theoretical, and expert consensus literature.

 

Outline:

  1. Introduction and rational for trauma-sensitive yoga
  2. Yoga techniques for clients and clinicians

Objectives:

  1. Articulate the rationale for use of yoga with trauma-exposed clients.
  2. Characterize the physiological markers associated with the use of yoga.
  3. Communicate yoga techniques that can be introduced into individual or small group treatment.
  4. Employ yoga-based self-care techniques for clinicians working with trauma survivors.

David Schouela, RYT 500, TCTSY-F is a certified Kripalu Yoga teacher-trainer and workshop facilitator. His career interests are to provide training in yoga and meditation as scientifically validated healing modalities for stress-related conditions and as a means of liberating body, mind and heart. He facilitates classes in Trauma-Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TC-TSY) in diverse clinical settings. TC-TSY is an empirically validated, adjunctive clinical treatment for complex trauma or chronic, treatment-resistant PTSD. Developed at the Trauma Center in Brookline, Massachusetts, TSY has foundations in Trauma Theory, Attachment Theory, and Neuroscience as well as Hatha Yoga practice with an emphasis on body-based yoga forms and breathing practices. He is passionate about helping individuals cultivate increased presence and resilience in their personal and professional lives through the practices of yoga and mindfulness.
