Amy Szoka, BSN, MSN, is an Assistant Nursing Professor for Daytona State College in central Florida; in addition to nursing, she also holds a license as a registered dental hygienist. Amy began her career in healthcare as a pediatric dental hygienist in a children’s rehab hospital providing care and teaching for physically and mentally challenged children. She made the transition to nursing, and specialized in care for patients in the acute med/surgical, emergency, and intensive care environments. Teaching has dominated Amy’s professional career and led to a change in career focus to full-time academia. Her current passion and focus resides with creative teaching strategies for the classroom and clinical setting, along with research into the cognitive psychology of learning. By stimulating the brain and engaging her learners, she can open your mind to a whole new world of learning.
