Deborah J. Lazzara, RN, MS, CCRN-CMC, DNP-C
Deborah J. Lazzara, MS, CCRN-CMC, DNP-C, has devoted her entire nursing career to critical care and cardiopulmonary nursing and has 30 years of valuable experiences on which to draw. She is currently a staff nurse working in the cardiac ICU at University of Chicago Medicine, caring for patients with complex cardiopulmonary problems on a daily basis. Prior to returning to the bedside, she has held advanced cardiology and critical care specialty roles, including experience as an educator, clinical faculty, clinical nurse specialist for cardiology and critical care, and outpatient advanced practice nurse.
Debbie is excited to share her vast insights through a fun and easy-to-understand presentation style. Her seminars include many real-life “tales from the bedside” from her own clinical practice to illustrate the complexities of caring for patients with respiratory emergencies. She is a sought-after presenter on a variety of topics, including: cardiac and medical-surgical emergencies, pulmonary hypertension, EKG interpretation, respiratory emergencies, and cardiac medications for diverse healthcare audiences. She has frequently shared her expertise at AACN’s National Teaching Institute. Additionally, Debbie is a published author for both nursing journals and textbook chapters; recent topics include: chest pain emergencies, chest tubes, alternative chest drainage options, and respiratory distress.
