Gail J. Sommerfeld is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator with additional certifications in exercise and pump training. Gail has been a registered dietitian since 1978 and currently works as a diabetes educator for two large endocrinology practices near Chicago, one specializing in adults and the other in pediatrics. She has worked in a variety of positions over the years from Neonatal Intensive Care to Private Practice. She was also on the faculty of The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, precepting dietetic students while attending graduate school.
Gail is active in ADA Camp programs and has served as the Lead Dietitian for the past 8 years as well as currently serving on the ADA Task Force. Gail was voted Educator of the Year for Chicago in 2004-2005. She has served her local chapter of AADE in several committee positions and annual symposium committees. In addition to being a RD, CDE, Gail holds a certification in Lifestyle and Weight Management from the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and she has a certification from American Dietetic Association (ADA) in Childhood and Adolescent Obesity.
