Jason King, PhD, CMHC, DCMHS


Jason H. King, PhD, CMHC, DCMHS served as a DSM-5® Revision Task Force committee member for the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) and the American Counseling Association (ACA), giving national and state presentations on the DSM-5® revision process and proposed diagnostic changes. He completed a podcast on the DSM-5® with the ACA, offers webinars on the DSM-5® for ACA members, and writes monthly articles on the DSM-5® in ACA’s Counseling Today. Dr. King owns and directs an outpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment clinic (lecutah.com) that collected data for the American Psychiatric Association’s Routine Clinical Practice field trials that informed the DSM-5® revision process. He has taught DSM and Clinical Assessment classes at the bachelor and master’s level.

Dr. King is a recognized speaker, researcher, supervisor, educator, clinician, and author with over 12 years of clinical experience in correctional, outpatient, private, and community practice settings with children, adolescents, and adults. He is a state licensed and national board certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CMHC) and is an AMHCA Diplomate and Clinical Mental Health Specialist (DCMHS) in Substance Abuse & Co-occurring Disorders Counseling. Dr. King received the 2012 AMHCA Mental Health Counselor of the Year Award.
