Johanna Hartlein, RN, MSN, APN
Johanna Hartlein is an Advance Practice Registered Nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner specializing in Movement Disorders. Johanna has spent over 10 years in this field as both a researcher and a clinician. She currently practices at Washington University School of Medicine in Saint Louis, Missouri, where she divides her time between seeing patients clinically and performing medical research with an interdisciplinary team of Movement Disorders Specialists. She coordinates and performs Movement Disorders-related research involving imaging (functional MRI, PET), cognitive behavioral research, and NIH-sponsored pharmaceutical studies.
Johanna not only practices evidence-based care, she takes an active role in the establishment of that evidence and has been a collaborator and co-author on many research publications. In addition to her clinical experience, Johanna is passionate about Movement Disorders because she has a strong personal and family history of these disorders. Her unique insights include not only knowledge as a clinician but also experience as a caregiver to family members with Parkinsons and Tourettes and personal patient experience as a person living with Multiple Sclerosis.
