Marie Schongar, FNP-C, BC-ADM, CDE, has been a Certified Diabetes Educator for over 20 years and is a Board-Certified Advanced Diabetes Manager. Marie works clinically as a Family Nurse Practitioner and Instructor at Albany Medical College's Department of Endocrine, seeing patients with pre-diabetes, Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes and diabetes with pregnancy. Recently, Marie became an adjunct professor at The Sage Colleges' Graduate program for nurse practitioner students doing clinical site visits and a professor of a nurse practitioner course at the college.

Marie has been a member of the American Diabetes Association and American Association of Diabetes Educators for many years. She presented a poster at the American Association of Diabetes Educators on her educational trip to China in 2008. Marie is past-president of Northeastern New York Diabetes Educators and now is on the AADE Coordinating Body board for NYS. In addition, she is also responsible for diabetes education programs such as diabetes and pregnancy, insulin pump and continuous glucose monitoring programs. Marie takes advantage of the opportunity to give back to her community by being a parish nurse. Marie is passionate about giving patients the best diabetes care and empowering them to self-manage their diabetes and achieve better glycemic control.
