Martha (Marty) Sparks, PhD, GCNS, BC, FNGNA

Martha (Marty) Sparks has extensive experience working in the adult health arena, focusing on geriatrics with an emphasis on caring for persons with cognitive impairment. She has practiced in acute and long-term care facilities, home health, and hospice as director of nursing, staff and charge nurse, TJC coordinator, case manager, clinical nurse specialist, and performance improvement/education coordinator.

In addition to speaking nationally for PESI HealthCare, Marty teaches gerontology courses at a mid-western university and has received grants to integrate long-term care into the baccalaureate nursing program and to develop a course and certificate program focused on Alzheimer's disease. Marty has authored several articles related to delirium and dementia. She is an active member of the National Gerontological Nursing Association, receiving the Distinguished Service Award in 2012.
