R. Scott Holuby, PharmD, BCPS, BC-ADM


R. Scott Holuby is a clinical pharmacist at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Dr. Holuby has a background in chronic disease management, including hypertension, hyperlipidemia, heart failure, diabetes, tobacco cessation, and anticoagulation. He has presented at several regional and national pharmacy conferences. His research areas include cardiovascular disease, medication management systems, medication safety in older adults and patient perceptions of clinical pharmacy. Dr. Holuby is also a pharmacist in the US Navy Reserve.

Dr. Holuby received his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and his Doctorate of Pharmacy from Campbell University in North Carolina. Dr. Holuby currently serves the Cardiology service and provides patient education in the areas of cardiovascular risk reduction, anticoagulation and tobacco cessation. He spent time as an assistant professor of pharmacy practice with the College of Pharmacy at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. He is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and Board Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management. His work as a clinical pharmacist has ranged from large medical centers to private physician practices.
