Dr. Thomas Michaels, Psy.D., LMHC, has worked in the field of psychology since 1999 in a multitude of clinical settings including both inpatient and outpatient child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry, as well as in a psychiatric day treatment with adults. Within these settings, Dr. Michaels has fulfilled different roles including psychological assessments, emergency evaluations to determine appropriate psychiatric level of care, individual and group psychotherapy, and the training and supervision of interns and staff. Dr. Michaels completed his doctoral internship in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City, working almost exclusively with gay men. He has specialized training in couples therapy. Dr. Michaels has developed and led psychotherapeutic groups for the LGBT population and worked for 5 years at an outpatient clinic working with this population.

Dr. Michaels attended St. Michael’s College in Colchester, Vermont, obtained his Master’s Degree in Psychology at Boston University in 2000, and his Doctor of Psychology Degree in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) at Antioch University New England in 2009. He is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Massachusetts.
