This course provides a comprehensive overview of neonatal skin care, focusing on the complexities of newborn skin and the importance of appropriate care. Participants will gain an understanding of the properties of newborn skin, learn to identify normal and abnormal assessment findings, and explore management approaches to specific skin problems unique to this population. Topics include common benign infant conditions and rashes, diagnosis, and management of infant eczema, examination of infant birthmarks, and guidance on basic skin care and sun protection for infants.

Ashley Smith Fraser, MSN, CPNP-PC

Ashley Smith Fraser, MSN, CPNP-PC, is a pediatric dermatology nurse practitioner at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC. She earned her BSN and MSN from The Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. She was a nurse in the emergency department at Children’s National and has been a pediatric nurse practitioner in the dermatology department in Children’s National for over 5 years. She specializes in acne, atopic dermatitis and biologic therapies.
