Katrina Nguyen, MD
Katrina Nguyen, MD, is an award-winning, board-certified pediatric gastroenterologist, founder of a nonprofit to fight childhood obesity, and author of Live to Give.
She was just 14 months old when her family escaped by boat from communist Vietnam in April 1975 after the fall of Saigon. Following the completion of her medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in 2002, Dr. Nguyen completed her residency in internal medicine-pediatrics at the University of Missouri in Columbia, followed by her fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. She worked at Augusta University in Georgia from August 2009 to May 2013 following completion of her fellowship. She is the founder of Faithful-2-Fitness, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to reverse the childhood obesity epidemic in America. She is a member of the Catholic Medical Association and the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. She is a clinical associate professor at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford. She has shared her expertise via EWTN Global Catholic Network, YMCA podcast, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
