Susan Holmen, MSW, LICSW, ICADC
Susan G. Holmen, MSW, LICSW, ICADC, has over 35 years of experience in counseling, public speaking, program development and training. She has worked as a psychotherapist and program coordinator in Minnesota, Louisiana and North Carolina. Ms. Holmen was a national trainer with the CMI Education Institute, providing a seminar on substance abuse to fellow clinicians. At present she is in private practice, owns her own consulting and training business, and is an Adjunct Professor in Social Work at St. Cloud State University.
Susan uses an eclectic approach in her work, incorporating such diverse models as family systems theory, communications theory, 12-step and addiction models, motivational interviewing, brief therapy, and cognitive therapy. She also utilizes alternative therapies, including guided imagery, meditation, and artwork. Ms. Holmen’s areas of specialty are addictions and addictive behaviors, relationship dynamics, codependency/self-esteem, family of origin issues, work-related issues, coping with chronic illness/pain, grief and loss, and spirituality.
